Technologies, from many eras of astronomy, work side by side in this historic observatory.  Used for research and public education it opened in 1918.  Telescope mount is one of the horse and buggy era things that is still in use.  State of the art optics, by year 2000 standards, keeps this telescope a relevent force in astronomical research.  I biked up Observatory Hill, (also known as Little Saanich Mountain) north of Victoria, BC, Canada to take these photos.  Pictures from 1996 trip.
