Just down the road in Pullman, Washington, someone painted Charlie Brown on a water tower; so the story I heard goes.  The image appeared, soon after, in a national magazine, I think MAD MAGAZINE.  City fathers decided to keep this drawing after its debut in the lime light.  That was sometime back in the 1960s.  Since then, it has been repainted every time the water tower gets a fresh coat of paint.  This photo taken in 2001.

My uncle's stepson, Doug Rudolph, painted him on the water tower. The neighbors threw a royal fit about it! - but then when they wanted to paint over it the neighbors that threw the biggest fit, fought to save it.  Crazy!

He also got a sound tape of a train, cranked his stereo system up late at night - all the neighbors ran to look out their windows to see the train.  No tracks for miles - Yes, he caused a bit of a ruckus around the neighborhood and gave his mother and my uncle a few gray hairs!  Doug and his wife still near Pullman... Just thought you'd like to know..... :-) Kaye
