South west of Chicago, IL is the Illinois and Michigan Canal. As of 1993, the bike path started in Channahon, IL and went north east to Joliet. After that it continues to Marseilles and LaSalle. The canal was a historic link between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.

Photos by region, by subject, contact.

Most of the canal is no longer in use and nature is reclaiming it.
