a Eureka Street. Yes, that's where I want to go. So many times one sees the pedestrian and bike facilities just end. The road shoulder continues, here at least. Below: My bike near Avenue Of The Giants, south of Eureka. This Avenue is a special road provides the quiet alternative to Highway 101. Traffic is light as the "pragmatic travel;" trucks and so forth; (out for business), use 101. Much of 101 is freeway now, but freeways can have good shoulders. Folks who want a slower poke through trees can use, the "alternative" avenue. It does have motorized traffic, but the traffic is light. 101 is more for the hurried crowd. Too bad the quiet alternative only goes part way. 2006 Trip Next |
