View from the observation tower at Santa Barbara County Courthouse.  Only a few stories, but looks out to the sea, across red tile roofs.

And looks all around, including into the mountains north of Santa Barbara.

My web site has placed me in touch with several people who are advocates for a shorter work week.  In Santa Barbara, I was able to have dinner with a Robert Bernstein.  He showed this viewpoint to me.

We had some long talks.

The friend I stayed with in Arlington, WA is also into shorter work week issues.

All this networking got me an interview on KZSB Radio, in Santa Barbara.

A show about travel.

Yes, it all does make sense.  Work less, take longer vacations, live a better life.

Santa Barbara

Robert was able to arrange a place for me to stay.  It was with this kind woman who enjoys visiting with folks passing through.

A very trusting woman.

She lives in a low crime area and doesn't even lock her door.  Nothing fancy in the house except for the land under it.  Santa Barbara real estate must be high.

Her house was simple, no plasma TV, for instance.  Who needs one with all this beauty around.

Trusting and low crime, yes even in Southern California.
