On second thought, let's try putting the road a bit farther from the cliff. 

Much of California Highway 1 is a difficult ride.  Steep winding grades, some parts with poor shoulder and a bit more traffic than I remembered from earlier years. 

Every little river that comes to the ocean carves its own canyon.  The road winds down, crosses a bridge and then climbs back out just to wind down again to the next gully.

Most of the drivers are courteous.  They had better not be in too big a hurry as so many curves are posted for 15 mph. 

Ocean vistas are spectacular, but one can almost get tired of seeing the ocean.
