Are they happy campers?

Just my superficial impression based on only passing through town and other similar looking places in the Pacific Northwest.

Most of Happy Camp's residents seem to be elderly loggers who may have seen happier days.

Sculpture of a sasquatch greets travelers coming into town.  At least someone has an artistic flair.  Most of the town seemed "drably pragmatic."  "Go git a job, but they wouldn't let us cut today."

Quite a few broken down trucks around town, but fairly good food in a local cafe/bar.

Another stop along the way.

I am sure there is a lot more to the stories of these towns than just the opinions I form on quick glance.

If I was traveling by car, I'd hardly know the town was there.

"Now you see it, now you don't."

It takes longer on bicycle so one is more apt to, at least, stop for a meal.
